113 Rochester Street

A casual street scene, this image shows a regular day in front of this small apartment building with a front facing shop. The building could not have more than 20 apartments and yet the current population that inhabits the same site, albeit still members of Black Brooklyn, resides in an apartment complex that swallows the structure of the former building.

Although she has little affinity to the memory of this location, I chose my mom as the volunteer for this site because she has lived in Brooklyn for over 20 years and has become familiar with many different parts of the borough. Likewise, she has devoted time and effort into visiting, photographing, and filming each site of memory with me.
