165 Claremont Ave. ?

Historian, writer, and activist Arthur Alfonso Schomburg stands amongst African-American Free Masons and Odd Fellows at the laying of an Ionic Temple in the older image. Their presence details the significance and visibility of black fraternal organizations in Brooklyn. At a site where numerous black men once stood, a predominately white neighborhood envelops and yet can never destroy their memory of Black Brooklyn.
